His height is 6 feet 7 inches, so it’s easy to guess that Mark Tobiassen was very fond of basketball as a kid and in college.
But it was his sports training that ultimately led him to his current career in helping local businesses and organizations prosper.
Tobiassen is a Certified Business and Executive Coach who helps with cash flow issues and the essential elements of running or growing a business. More important is the mentorship and relationships he provides to help business owners overcome their fears and move forward with confidence.
“It helps people, usually business owners, executives, or management teams to grow as humans first,” said Tobiassen, CEO / Owner of the Action Coaching Business. “Companies are based on whether they grow or not, mainly whether their owners grow. That’s what I did with high school students on the basketball court and they are their best people, their best. And the results are:
Tobiassen has worked with hundreds of clients, including local veterinarians and doctors, the New Mexico Cancer Center, lawyers, restaurants, clothing companies, and at least one funeral hall.
He and his wife also host quarterly workshops where clients and others who wish to attend listen to guest speakers and “reset the next 90 days of work and personal life.” ..
Tobiassen says he speaks from the bottom of his heart. He died almost three times from an autoimmune disease that once landed at the Cleveland Clinic for three months.
“It changed me in a way that I couldn’t say I didn’t do anything else,” he says. “I can be more realistic with people.”
Why do you think personal growth is so important to business owners?
“What I had a hard time learning: I was able to read the income statement while I was sleeping. When I started this business, I told myself,” I have to teach you this. ” I did. And I did, but they (customers) haven’t changed. It was a great learning experience. Why don’t they do what I taught them? Focus, responsibility, self-confidence are needed, and by teaching the human and psychological aspects, they are empowered to get out there and do it. “
Are there any customers who are particularly proud?
“The most important thing for coaching to work is that the person can be coached. They must agree to air their clothes and seek advice and help. I have a (female) owner of a boutique consignment business that is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever worked with. I still work with her eight or nine years later. What I’m most proud of is his ability to overcome adversity. For example, if you’re experiencing a pandemic, you have these three stores and one day they’re completely closed. So he’s my We’re literally crying in the office. We’ve started planning. You’re going to start an online business. Today your online business is much bigger than your face-to-face business. And he We sell things everywhere, not just here in Alba Khaki. “
What makes your job better?
“I looked at everyone and said,” I’ve been there. Enterprise (Rent-a-Car) is a multi-million dollar company, but because each branch is independent, I When I was there, only I and my branch ran it. At the age of 20, I was a leader, nurturing people around me, and (continuing) progressing. So whether you have a difficult conversation with this employee or a big competitor is coming, you name it, I experienced it. # 2, I humanize the experience. Self Enlightenment is the key and remains true to it. Third, when someone sits with me and we set their goals, their goals become my goals.
What are your hobbies?
“Tell what you’re trying to do, then do what you say. The other is to set goals that are too low. It’s halfway, not halfway.”
Please tell us about your near-death experience.
“In 2017, I collapsed in the bathroom and almost fainted. It was a lot of internal bleeding. This caused a series of top-down events that landed me in the Presbyterian Church (hospital) for two weeks. Stopped and I was sent home. It happened again. I spent three months at the Cleveland Clinic, where the best people in the world to treat this disease live. It’s a derivative of fainting. Some There was an operation of. I experienced it all, but lost 60 pounds, couldn’t walk and had to go to the rehabilitation. I was in remission, but it broke and I was wearing (anti-bleeding agent) and my number was decreasing. I was driving on the highway and a 19 year old boy struck me. The shock made everything possible. So it was a big deal to survive. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back. But I’m healthier than before. I made a lot of discoveries about what was happening and fixed the problem. . “
And explain how it affected your business.
“My wife and I talked a lot about it … the belief that it wasn’t my time. And this business was a big part of it. We’re taking this very seriously. The idea that it’s not over yet. It shouldn’t have happened yet. So I believed it. When I talk to people, we’re better so that you can live a bigger life. I’m building a business. I live it, so I know what it means. I connect points to life. That’s not just what we say. This is us. is.”
