my first job
When I was in high school, Laguna Beach had a program called Park Nights where the older students babysit the neighborhood kids. Parents would come to the local park several times a week and pay $10 or $20 to leave their children for two hours for her or three for him. I think they paid me $20-$40 a night.it was like babysitters clubbut on a smaller scale.
my worst job
rear hill Quite disappointing to be involved and ‘competent’ [laughs]but I was still heavily involved in the entertainment industry, so I ended up working at a sports talent agency for about a year. It was especially difficult for me as I was always waiting for the phone to ring wishing I could hire you. Me For that reassurance, call them and tell them. Most of the time you don’t get a job. It was not fun to deliver bad news all the time. I quit after a year and moved to New York in 2012.
How reality TV star turned businessman
First, I went to culinary school. It was in the early stages of negotiations to do the show when The Food Network and Cooking Channel decided to pull out of the project. This happens all the time in entertainment. Everyone is a creator and everyone can own their story. After accepting the fact that I was in a privileged position in terms of having a platform and an audience, I started creating content on my own terms. After continuing such a life for many years, I started Love Wellness in 2016. Being a CEO is where I feel most comfortable because I just want to control my destiny.
Why I started Love Wellness
18 months before starting Love Wellness, I was very sick and it happened overnight. It took me many visits and many visits to discover that my depression, anxiety and recurring yeast infections were caused by some pretty serious vitamin deficiencies and an imbalance in the gut microbiome. I was constantly going to the drugstore and buying old school heirloom brand name products trying to figure out what worked for my body. In, a combination of prescription drugs and amazing probiotics specifically designed for women’s vaginal and urinary health helped me get better and pave the way.
Then I realized there was no innovative brand prioritizing self-care education for women. And I felt that my experience, my platform and my audience allowed me to share what I learned. So I invested every dollar I had left hill Create content and basically use your savings to start a business. I created my first website myself, did all the customer experience, called manufacturers, and launched 5 personal care products, which are still selling today and are our bestsellers. I began to learn and understand that there is a very important audience for women’s skin care that works, has a mission, is focused on innovation, and cares about the female body.
Also, I started the brand because I was embarrassed to buy things at the tampon counter. He has doubled every time I go to his CVS. I thought, “Can you make me a vaginal suppository that I can hold in my hand and actually feel joy in?” When I needed a product for our bodies, I set out to create this emotional experience for women. forced to hide in the bathroom cabinet? You need brands and products that make you feel at ease.
tips for starting your own business
If you have personal experience and have solved your own problems, you probably have a great business idea. The possibilities for creating new businesses are endless. I think we’re getting to the point where everyone thinks all good ideas are adopted, but that’s not true. Because as humans continue to evolve, there are problems left and right. It doesn’t matter if people don’t believe you or not. Love When he googled the first article written about wellness, it wasn’t anything positive, it made fun of me, the company, and everything we did. Since we grew to scale, the tone has changed a lot. We are one of Target’s best-selling brands. People take us seriously. Don’t buy negativity that people may throw at you.
WHY CHOOSE BEHIND THE SCENES
It was certainly a deliberate decision. There is still a prejudice against anyone who has been on a reality show and I am fully aware of it. I am behind the scenes to help brands maximize their chances of helping people. . [of the company] It’s important. I don’t care if you love me If the product works for you, that’s all that matters. It does nothing for me or my ego. I’m just happy to have the opportunity to build something that works.
Biggest mistake in my job
When people see that it’s my company, people assume I’m being hired by a private equity firm. I say to myself In fact, I do it myself, invest all my money, and lead product innovation. “
Important Lessons I Learned
Understand that everyone has value and everyone brings something. We don’t want to perpetuate the kind of atrocities we see in Hollywood in our daily lives and businesses. In this world, you are either chosen or you are not. Your talent is a commodity, and in another setting, your brains, creativity, and courage are equally important. You don’t have to be popular to live a full and meaningful life.
Advice to my younger self
Frankly, I don’t know if I would give my younger self any advice. Experience, good or bad, is what it should be, because it’s the only way to learn and grow. i won’t go back It made me who I am today.
My Approach to Bringing Change to the Feminine Care Space
If you want to change your life and have your own story, you have to stick to it. I’ve been doing this every day for 6 years and many people didn’t believe me at first. I am successful today because I have never lost my way. If you really believe in it, it will come true.
