Former Hollywood visual effects specialist pplpleasr just announced her new projects Shibuya and White Rabbit. These two projects promise to revolutionize the field of NFT animated games.
How did these projects come about?
According to pplpleasr, the ideas for these two unique projects came from thinking about the unexplored uses of NFT and blockchain technologies.
“This is where the idea of Shibuya came from,” said pplpleasr. “A Web 3 experiment where long-form content is free to watch but monetized on blockchain to allow viewers to participate [in] the creative process and shared ownership too.”
The artist was inspired by her love of art and great storytelling. After working in Hollywood for a while, she quickly realized that funding in the City of Dreams is highly political and a career in visual effects is highly volatile.
After being unemployed in 2020, she started creating her own animations for DeFi protocols. NFT’s creator-first economic model led to their animations going viral, which in turn led to PleasrDAO. After crowdfunding an Ethereum documentary on a series of NFTs, pplpleasr started creating Shibuya.
About pplpleasrs Shibuya and White Rabbit
According to the artist, Shibuya is a Web3 video platform that allows users to get involved, fund, vote on the outcome and own long-form content. Named after the busiest pedestrian crossing in the world, Shibuya is a place where cultures and ideas meet. In addition, it includes a lot of content and screens accessible to all.
White Rabbit is the first series to launch on Shibuya. Inspired by Anime, Black Mirror, Love Death + Robots and web3, the series is the result of a collaboration with artist and director Maciej Kuciara. Pplpleasr revealed that the series comes in the form of free-to-watch webisodes where you can choose your own path.

Gamification of voting mechanisms
Simply put, the pilot will have a main character coming through two doors. Behind every door is a different end. To watch and vote, users must mint a Producer Pass (ERC1155 NFT) and use it on their chosen door.
Users who purchase this pass not only get access to the ending, but also fund the production of the film. In addition, they decide the fate of the main character.
By staking their Producer Pass, users will earn $WRAB. This is an ERC20 token representing a fractional ownership of White Rabbit. There will be a new pass for each chapter. Therefore, users have a souvenir from each episode in their wallets.
In addition, users who voted for the winning site will receive bonus $WRAB tokens. People can also earn extra tokens by voting early. Additionally, the team is working with DegenScore to customize viewing experiences based on wallet history/on-chain activity.
Animated films are expensive to produce. Through Web-3 technology and mechanics, artists can turn passive viewers into active fans. Because they not only watch, but also support the artistic work with grants. Additionally, NFTs are a perfect opportunity to bypass the film industry’s gatekeepers and allow artists to reach their full potential.
